blue_nadir has four slots right now for $5 sketches. IMHO, they're really nice. Here's one done for me a couple of days ago.

and yes, I've started doing yoga, believe it or not. We';ll see how long it lasts. Quite a while I hope.
FWIW: I can *not* do this pose as of yet. My foot makes it only as far up as my ankle - level 1 - not as far as the sketch - level 3. But that's better than I could do three weeks ago when I started. Balance is starting to get better and the same with flexibility. But man! It's a *lot* of work!

Nov. 22nd, 2010 12:32 amkiraxlee was offering cat themed sketches a while back and I asked if she could do a double representing me and my late husband Jeff. I think she did a perfect job of it - it really captures his devil-may-care roguish attitude perfectly.
It's the little things like this that, over time, help me to deal with things.
djinni is hosting another free icon day over here: Tod's Free Icon Day . They really are free, but donations are always appreciated and help boost the type and amount of icons done for you. Right now the first level of donations has been reached - all the requested icons to be colored - and he's $50 away from folks getting two icons, not just one. Go, look and make a request if you're interested. Any critter and any theme. And if you can, toss a few credits his way. he's a full time artist and this helps keep beans on the table.

Artists take commissions there for anywhere from $1.00 to $10.00 for icons, sketches, digital art and such. This is where I met this most talented person and several others who have done great work for me.
I can't pimp this community enough.

This was a 'speed paint' commission done by Kierstal over onteenycom. 'Speed Paint' means this was done in only an hour or so. Considering it takes me about that long to figure out a pencil and ruler [I'm not this type of artistic], it just fascinates me and blows me away. All I was able to give the artist was a couple of photos of Abyssinian cats and a description of how I'd like the hair and eyes. They rest is all artistic license.
I love her.

Dec. 10th, 2009 10:30 pmturntap2 made me art. Literally! She made me art and made me into art.Please meet my 'alter-ego' in Starfleet - a Caitian named T'Mayla Rotaru, who is a Starfleet doctor from the TOS/Reboot era.
I am seriously doing the happy dance over this sketch.
And now, after showing it to you, I'm off to show it to my fellow crew members on my Starfleet International 'ship', the USS Thermopylae.
EDIT: She's taking for commissions right now - pretty much any idea, if folks are interested.
