Actually, if I'm looking at anything consistent over the years, I'd say patches. All kinds of them: fandoms, NASA, LEO/EMS, military. They're small, easy to store if you don't have room to display them and great mementos of places you were when you got them.
And if someone sent them to me, even better, because through them, I get to 'see' other places.
