For those who are wondering what the SCA is, please go Society for Creative Anachronism.
I would like to start off by saying I first ran across the SCA sometime back in AS 'Single Digits', but didn't get active until the late 1970's. And I never do things half way...
GENERAL SCA
- Been an officer? (Local, Regional, Kingdom, Society?) - yes x 4.
- Do you have an SCA name? - Yes
- Do you have an SCA persona? - Yes
- Changed persona because of different garb? - No
- Been adopted by a person, household or clan? - once or twice
- Had a name and/or device accepted by the SCA College of Arms? Yes
- Had a name and/or device rejected by the SCA College of Arms? Yep - my first attempt
- Been taken or taken an apprentice, protégé or squire? - Yes, Squire to HE Syr Garan Stiengrimson, KSCA - for coming up on 27 years

- Done a different martial art at an event? - Tried Combat Archery - not good at it
- Ever run a martial activity at an event? - Yep
- Ever fought in a Crown Tourney? - Yep

- Have rank as an archer? - No

I'm an Entertainer, not a classic Bard, so I tend to do things folks like to hear and sing along with. I was once kicked out of a Bardic because I 'wasn't period enough'. Go figure.
Also, FWIW: I was one of the five folks who first started the BaO Celtic Bardic Fest, the first in An Tir, back in the early 80's. The other four have left the SCA...

- Been called to court for punishment? - No, nothing seriously, just in jest

- Done something while watching court, e.g., spin, sew, embroider, if so what? - If I'm not up front, pretty much most of the time I keep my hands busy

- Met most past significant others in an SCA setting? - Just the one I'm keeping. :}

- Is your tent bigger than your first apartment? - No, Wish I could say 'Yes', but I've always camped small
- How many sewing machines do you have? - Right now? Just one
- Own an anvil? Used to - gave it away when I stopped making my own armor
- Added something to the YKITSCA-When lists? Yes, several times

Another Harvest come and gone...
Nov. 3rd, 2007 11:38 pmAnother Harvest Feast come and gone. I think we’re up to something like # 27 or something. And I have to say this was one of the most organized ones for the kitchen I’ve ever been a part of. The chef [Paul, husband of Jay-Cee] who does this for real in RL, was incredible. He hit the door at 1200 and despite having to work around things like the ovens being a bit too small, etc. The first remove hit the tables at 5:45 [15 minutes past schedule on the day’s events] and the last food went out no later than 7:30 at the latest. I lost track of time because we were flying. So far as actual bodies in the kitchen doing food, it varied between two of us and four of us, but never more than that. Paul had things so well pre-prepped and did the whole ‘wing it’ bit so well it took very few people to get things done. A four remove multi culture meal for 150 with the dessert remove dessert contest in honor of Baron Micheil. I missed out on tasting the winner – a truly awesome looking raspberry triffle, but what I was able to snag was top caliber.
The contract said we had to be out NLT 1 AM. We were well into clean-up by 9 PM and I left with the last folks out the door around 10:30.
So… how many times does the entire thing wrap over 2 hours before we have to be out? And that’s counting a last minute Royal Court @ 12 noon added to the schedule.
More, perhaps, later. After I get my feet to uncramp.
